How can I calculate my ideal weight?
To determine your ideal weight, you can use your body mass index (BMI) as a general guide. BMI is calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in meters squared.
A healthy BMI is generally between 18.5 and 24.9. However, it is important to note that BMI does not take into account body composition, such as the amount of muscle mass versus fat.
Another way to determine your ideal weight is to consult with a health professional, such as a doctor or nutritionist, who can evaluate your body composition and help you set a healthy goal weight for you specifically.
What is BMI?
You can also take into account other factors such as your build, age, physical activity level, and general health to determine what is an appropriate weight for you. The most commonly used formula to calculate a person’s ideal weight based on their height is the Body Mass Index (BMI), which is calculated as follows:
BMI = weight (kg) / height (m)²
Once the BMI has been calculated, it can be determined if the person’s weight is within a range considered «normal» or healthy. However, it is important to note that BMI is only an approximation and does not take into account other important factors such as body composition or body fat distribution. It is always advisable to consult with a health professional to determine a person’s ideal weight more precisely.
If your BMI is less than 18.5, you could be considered underweight.
If your BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9, you are at your ideal weight.
If your BMI is greater than 25, you could be somewhat overweight.
If your BMI is greater than 30, you may be obese.
My advice is that you do not do these calculations after Christmas or holidays, believe me, you will save yourself a lot of suffer……..
